There is a great amount of history in our county that has not been available to the public. We hope to give some of our county's history a wider audience. We also hope to attract new members to our Historical Society.

We have some recent additions to our site --
We link the books of one of Boone County's noted citizens, John Uri Lloyd, chemist and novelist [19 April 1849 – 9 April 1936]. These books are digitized by Google and may be viewed, or downloaded for future reading.
Professor A. M. Yealey's History of Boone County has 45 short and interesting essays about the early years of the county. He was an early teacher in Boone County schools.

Hillary Delaney is the president; a Florence native and proud graduate of Boone County High School. College took her to Virginia, where she studied journalism and met her husband, Mike. They moved back to Boone County in 2008, with their two children, Sophie and Colin. Hillary has worked for the Boone County Library since 2011, and joined the Local History and Genealogy department in 2013. She has enjoyed every moment of learning and sharing the fascinating history of our area and is looking forward to her role with the Boone County Historical Society.
